Are You Convinced That Only Psych Drugs Can Remove Psych Symptoms?

Keep Methylation Central

Are you really convinced that nothing besides pharmaceuticals can remove psych symptoms?

Check out this tale of two mice:

Picture1
I am Dr. Nancy Mullan.

I help people with chronic psych symptoms open to working with dietary change and genetics based nutritional supplementation, who want to go back to developing their lives as opposed to dealing with illness, and who want new energy and the enhanced relationships that energy brings.

It is undisputed scientific fact that your genetics predispose you to schizophrenia, bipolar or any other chronic illness.

It is also true that the environment surrounding your DNA can either help repair problems in the DNA structure, or make those problems worse. This happens because of what are called ‘epigenetic’ changes. These are changes in the structure of the gene because of what is ‘epi’ or around the gene.

It is only common sense that different substances surrounding the gene would impact gene function differently. What is astonishing is that these epigenetic changes can be inherited!

Just as the DNA in the gene is inherited, the pattern of epigenetic change in the gene is passed down also. The DNA is inherited irreversibly, the epigenetic change is inherited reversibly. Very neat! You are not absolutely stuck with what came down to you…

The story for the two mice above is that they are genetically identical. They don’t look the same, that’s for sure… Their mothers were fed differently and that is responsible for their differences…

The obese white mouse on the left had a mother who was fed regular mouse rations. The smaller brown mouse on the right is more normal. His mother was fed a diet with added B12, folic acid and methyl donors.

B12 and folic acid enhance methyl group formation. Methyl groups are one carbon, three hydrogen molecules that attach to and repair some of the deficits in the DNA. Methyl groups are primary epigenetic modifiers of DNA.

Not only is the DNA inherited, but the pattern of methylation is also inherited. When your mother or father has either optimally or non optimally methylated their genes, that is passed down to you!

Methylation is the attachment of a one carbon, three hydrogen molecule to a gene or to any other biochemical structure. It can repair a problem genetic sequence, or it may silence the gene entirely. Methylation can totally change the character of the molecule to which it attaches. It is an inordinately important biochemical action that may have far reaching consequences. Methylation must happen correctly, smoothly and efficiently for your body to function normally.

Even in the absence of problem genetics, chemicals and toxins can impair methylation. Conversely, lack of methylation will impair your ability to excrete toxins. Infection can also negatively impact your capacity to methylate. H. pylori infection specifically does this.

So you need to be sure you have covered all of your bases, that your psychiatric symptoms are not from impaired methylation due to immune impairment, gastrointestinal disorder, persistent bacterial or viral infection, yeast infestation, multiple food or chemical sensitivities, or heavy metal toxicity.

Diet and nutritional supplementation can change these conditions. In doing this, they change the environment surrounding your genes, and positively impact epigenetics. You are not stuck with what you are suffering now…

I have put out materials on optimizing diet, supplementation and methylation capacity. They can be accessed at http://www.NancyMullanMD.com and https://chronicdiseaserecovery.wordpress.com/. Get familiar with all of the conditions that optimizing these factors can correct.

You need to know the status of all of the genes encoding for the enzymes in your methyl group producing pathways, so you can bypass any problem genetics, and be sure you have the methyl groups you need to perform all of the important functions that involve methyl groups.

My Tuesday night call is your chance to learn what you need to know to get this important area of your life and biochemistry under control. I take your questions on many topics, among them the impact of your personal genetics on your biochemistry. I discuss how to balance your biochemistry with nutritional supplements that bypass problem genetics.

It is up to YOU to to learn about treating psychiatric and other chronic illness successfully.

You need to know about the role of optimizing both methyl group production and your capacity for methylation.

This is your opportunity.

My Tuesday evening calls are ongoing. They happen every week. There is no charge to come on this call. It is a free forum where you can ask your questions. I am there to help you, and I have a group of experienced patients who will give you their insights also.

It’s a great way to answer your most pressing questions, clear up confusion, overcome the obstacles you may be having, and get on the path to wellness.

Wow! I have to tell you, this was such an uplifting call. It’s so nice to hear good news especially about a child. Anxiety, OCD and a host of other mental/psychiatric symptoms have been a huge hurdle for me. So to hear this story of all those awful symptoms totally going away is such a bright light for me!!!!

Dr. Mullan works with people who are struggling with chronic disease or other significant illness, who are willing to use diet and genetics-based nutritional supplementation, and who want to increase wellbeing and energy, enhance immunity, lift mood, fine-tune genetic function, and get their lives back. Dr. Mullan has studied at a number of exceptional institutions: the University of Pennsylvania, Tufts University School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics. She excels at integrating the results of biochemical and genetic testing into sustained clinical improvement for you. She has succeeded with patients who confounded the specialists at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, Stanford, and many well-known integrative medical doctors. When recommending her, her patients say, “This is the woman you need to talk to. She really knows how to handle tough clinical problems.” Dr. Mullan's specialty areas are MTHFR+, methylation genetics, and genetics-based nutritional supplementation. Within this context, she most often works with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lyme Disease, Psychiatric Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Women’s Health Issues, Thyroid Disorder, Gastrointestinal Disorder, and Heavy Metal Toxicity.
