The Most Common Blunder Doctors Make When Treating Your Chronic Illness
You do well to read this, especially if you are chronically sick, having symptoms, and feeling out of control, when you want to quit being stuck and scared, and return to the world of people who are functioning.
You may be able to get well without input from genetic testing if you have an easy problem to solve. But if you have a lingering chronic illness, you need to find out how your genes are impacting your immune system, and what you can do to enhance your immune function.
Optimizing Methylation: Central to Immune Performance
I am a medical doctor. I work with Dr. Amy Yasko. Dr. Amy has been well recognized for her treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and other chronic illness.
I treat people with chronic disease from MTHFR+, Lyme Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Psychiatric Disorders, and a whole range of other problems that can be disabling.
I treat lesser disorders too, like menopausal disorder, pre-menstrual syndrome and thyroid disorder, even though they do not feel lesser when you are going through them.
Because of my intense curiosity about healing, I come to you with a special knowledge of genetics and biochemistry. And because of my experience with blind spots in mainstream medicine, I learned effective procedures for regulating your genetic expression, balancing your biochemical pathways, enhancing your immune function, and inducing healing.
What about you? Who are you?
Some of you are very sick and very young. There has been a shocking increase of chronic illness among the young. 300,000 new cases of Lyme Disease are reported in the US every year. That figure has been adjusted up from 30,000.
Many of you have been sick for 5, 10, 15 years or more. Some of you have been devastated by the treatments you have been given, not just the disease. You got sick from these treatments and are still waiting to recover.
If your clinician has had two or three months to produce some improvement in your health and has not done that, you should be on alert. I am not talking about getting you all the way to well, I am simply talking about improvement in your condition.
If your clinician has had six months to get you some improvement and has still not done it regardless of the reasons, you should be a lot more than alert. You should get mobilized. He may be making one or several of these blunders:
Common Blunder: Pounding you with prolonged antibiotics
This is the most common intervention for chronic Lyme disease. It may be appropriate for a mostly well person with acute Lyme infection, but it can be a total disaster if you are truly chronically ill. Even herbal antibiotics can be a challenge for you. You have to have good gastrointestinal function, and a range of good organisms present in your gut to tolerate oral antibiotic therapy.
Most of you have heard about patients who have gotten sick from antibiotic administration.
Some have never recovered from how sick they got.
Common Blunder: Testing only the MTHFR gene.
Some clinicians have become aware that the MTHFR gene is critical to methylation pathway function in your body, but they test only this one gene.
This may lead to recommendations that are totally wrong for you because of the other genes in the methyl group forming pathways that have not been tested.
Methylation, the attachment of a methyl group to another molecule, is especially important if you are chronically ill because it keeps your immune system mobilized and functioning. Knowing about methylation and enhancing it in your body can be the difference between getting well or not. It is big.
Common Blunder: Not getting survey genetic testing.
The human genome has been characterized. There are genetic survey tests available from nationally recognized labs. These tests are available even without prescription. This testing gives you insights on overcoming your symptoms.
Not many doctors have taken the time to study the impact of genetics and integrate it into their practice. This is because the solutions to bypassing these problems have been to control internal environment with diet and nutritional supplementation, thus optimizing gene function.
Mainstream doctors are not going to be told about anything that does not involve pharmaceuticals.
Even many Lyme literate MDs (LLMD’s) are not informed.
Your clinician may be open minded or an alternative clinician, he still may not know how to use genetic testing that is critical if you are immune suppressed or have a chronic illness.
You are getting excuses instead of getting well.
So now it is up to YOU to learn more about treating chronic illness successfully…
My clinical calls are ongoing:
When: Every Tuesday
The time: 5:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time
(8:00 PM Eastern, 7:00 PM Central, 6:00 PM Mountain)
The number to call: (559) 726-1300
The access code: 986935#
This is brilliant. I hope a lot of people not doing methylation work see this. I wish I’d seen this before I started doing daily injections of B12 and folic acid and ended up in a crisis. Maybe had I known to have the genetic methylation stuff going, the IV therapies I did that really helped would not have been so traumatic… JB
I have put out materials on optimizing diet, supplementation and methylation capacity. They can be accessed at http://www.NancyMullanMD.com and https://chronicdiseaserecovery.wordpress.com/ Get familiar with all of the conditions that optimizing these factors can correct.
You need to know the status of all of the genes encoding for the enzymes in your methyl group producing pathways, so you can bypass any problem genetics, and be sure you have the methyl groups you need to perform all of the important functions that involve methyl groups.
My Tuesday night call is your chance to learn what you need to know to get this important area of your life and biochemistry under control. I take your questions on many topics, among them the impact of your personal genetics on your biochemistry. I discuss how to balance your biochemistry with nutritional supplements that bypass problem genetics.

You need to know about the role of optimizing both methyl group production and your capacity for methylation.
This is your opportunity.
My Tuesday evening calls are ongoing. They happen every week. There is no charge to come on this call. It is a free forum where you can ask your questions. I am there to help you, and I have a group of experienced patients who will give you their insights also.
It’s a great way to answer your most pressing questions, clear up confusion, overcome the obstacles you may be having, and get on the path to wellness.

So excellent! I literally learn something on every single call and I get clarification on things that have been lingering in my mind…
You are giving people a huge gift by empowering them… It’s about helping the patient become their own healer by taking them to a higher level of consciousness…
Thank you so much Dr. Mullan. Thank you so, so much for everything you do.
Wow! I have to tell you, this was such an uplifting call. It’s so nice to hear good news especially about a child. Anxiety, OCD and a host of other mental/psychiatric symptoms have been a huge hurdle for me. So to hear this story of all those awful symptoms totally going away is such a bright light for me!!!!
