Last week’s email was the start of a series that will detail how I proceed into a treatment, what I am thinking at each step. It will be cut down into ‘bite sized’ pieces, so you are not overwhelmed with information and get your best chance at understanding the information. For an explanation of the basic biochemistry that I am talking about, go to www.NancyMullanMD.com and opt in for the e book that you will find on the home page there. This is the second email in the series. Last week I dealt with putting in all of the basic nutrients to get methylation going by using All in One, Dr. Amy Yasko’s multi vitamin/mineral. and by pushing the ‘shortcut pathway’. Most of you can tolerate this. If you cannot, then you have to figure out what your body needs by testing and be sure to include it in your program.
Sometimes it will happen that something you need produces such a reaction when you take it that you have to back off, let your system calm down, and start by introducing such infinitesimal amounts of it that you have only a very minimal, very tolerable reaction. You may be able to work up from there.
Or you may find that you are stuck. You may be totally unable to take a nutrient that is essential to this protocol without a giant uproar from your body. Then you just have to work around it until you figure out why this is happening from testing. Sometimes as you get other pieces of the program into place, your reactivity to a certain element lets up. You may have to deal with some underlying issue, your GI tract for example, before you can tolerate the other nutritional support that you need.
If you are reacting to absolutely everything and you cant get a break, then you need to test the water supply to your house. The laboratory I like to use for this is Micro Trace Minerals from Boulder, CO. The other possibility is that there is mold in your environment. Don’t just assume that your environment is OK. Test it. More than a few people have spent a year or more trying to add supplements only to discover later that the source of their reactivity was an environmental factor that could have been eliminated at the start of their program.
It is up to YOU to learn about treating your chronic illness successfully…
You need to know about the role of optimizing both methyl group production and your capacity for methylation in order to be healthy.
This is your opportunity.

So excellent! I literally learn something on every single call and I get clarification on things that have been lingering on my mind…
You are giving people a huge gift by empowering them…It’s about helping the patient become their own healer by taking them to a higher level of consciousness…
Thank you so much Dr. Mullan. Thank you so, so much for everything you do.
Wow! I have to tell you, this was such an uplifting call. It’s so nice to hear good news especially about a child. Anxiety, OCD and a host of other mental/psychiatric symptoms have been a huge hurdle for me. So to hear this story of all those awful symptoms totally going away is such a bright light for me!!!!
This is brilliant. I hope a lot of people not doing methylation work will see this. I wish I’d seen this before I started doing daily injections of B12 and folic acid and ended up in a crisis. Maybe had I known to have the genetic methylation stuff going, the IV therapies I did that really helped would not have been so traumatic…
